Summary
Primary production, zooplankton grazing, bacterioplankton activity and sedimentation were measured during the year 1982 in the river Oise and in the basin of Méry-sur-Oise, an artificial storage reservoir fed with water from the Oise. A carbon budget was established for the summer period in both environments. These two budgets are compared from the point of view of primary production, its importance compared with allochthonous imports of organic material and its fate within the ecosystems. The status of the basin, intermediate between a river and a lake is discussed.
