III. Lakes. 5. Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica

Water appearance and recreational use of 10 lakes of the North Island (New Zealand)

With 1 figure and 2 tables in the text

Pages 611-615 | Published online: 01 Dec 2017

Summary

In a set of 10 lakes of widely varying appearance, swimming was the only recreational use which was sensitive to poor water appearance. The intensity of other uses (including fishing, boating and various forms of passive recreation) was broadly similar in lakes of both good and poor appearance. Water appearance may affect the quality of the recreation experience more than its intensity.
