Abstract
The SDM approach is briefly recalled and is applied to the interpretation of radionucleides profiles in alpine lakes. This approach is compared with a sophisticated mathematical deconvolution approach concerning the heavy metals profiles in Lake Michigan. This comparison highlights the value of combining the two approaches.
