Sedimentary organic matter as environmental indicators: Lipid compounds in a sediment core of Lake Suigetsu, Japan

Pages 841-844 | Published online: 01 Dec 2017

Summary

Table 1 summarizes the results. High abundances of C17 n-alkane, phytol, dinosterol and C27 steradiene may be associated with the high primary productivity in BW conditions. In particular, farnesol, C20 branched alkane, unsaturated alcohols may be closely related with intensive bacterial activities in aerobic condition. In FW environment, the organic composition is common to that of other FW lake sediments except for the presence of unusual C30: 1 hopanoid hydrocarbon.
