Summary
In the Beaujolais vineyards, copper has contaminated soils and surface waters. Heavy rainfalls produce runoff characterised by high loads of suspended solids with high rate of clay sized particles and by transfer of copper. Most metal is in solid associated form. In the stream, the dependency of copper concentrations on precipitation depths is given by a linear regression and for waters with suspended sediment levels higher than 30 mg · -1 the majority of Cu is transported in particulate associated form.
