Abstract
Twelve types of ladle bricks, 5 types of mortars and one ramming material were subjected to ladle slag attack in a gas fired furnace. A qualitative comparative study of the slag attack on ladle bricks can be made by the method described. Bricks protruding towards the centre of the ladle are much more corroded than those which are their neighbour. No relationship between physical properties and slag attack could be found.
