SUMMARY
After a review of the scarce literature that exists on the population of sandy beaches and dunes in intertropical areas, an eco-ethological research programme in a locality on the sandy coast of southern Somalia (Sar Uanle, 0°29′49''S-42°25′30''E, near Chisimaio) is described together with the reasons which led to the choice of this locality.

Dopo un esame sommario della scarsa letteratura esistente sul popolamento delle spiaggie sabbiose e delle dune in aree intertropicali, si riferisce sul programma di ricerca faunistica ed eco-etologica in una località della costa sabbiosa della Somalia meridionale (Sar Uanle, 0°29′49''S-42°25′30''E, presso Chisimaio) e si espongono i motivi che hanno determinato la scelta della località.
