SUMMARY
A study of some Scolopendridae collected in the Somali Democratic Republic revealed the presence of the genus Otostigmus (O. taeniatus Pocock, 1896) and the species Rhysida l. longipes Newport, 1845, both new to Somalia. Eleven specimens of Trachycormocephalus, practically identical to mirabilis (Porat, 1876), revealed a distinguishing spinulation of the coxopleura and of the prefemur of the 21st pair of legs. Also found was a specimen of the genus Ethmostigmus which resembles trigonopodus (Leach, 1817) in every detail except for the presence of three spines, arrayed in the shape of a fan, in place of the spine on the prefemural angle of the 21st pair of legs.
RIASSUNTO
L'esame di alcuni Scolopendridae della Repubblica Democratica Somala ha rivelato la presenza di due nuovi taxa per la Somalia, il genere Otostigmus (O. taeniatus Pocock, 1896) e la specie Rhysida l. longipes Newport, 1845. Undici esemplari del genere Trachycormocephalus, molto simili alla specie mirabilis (Porat, 1876), se ne distinguono però per alcuni caratteri riguardanti la spinulazione della coxopleura e del prefemore del 21° paio di zampe. È stato rinvenuto anche un esemplare appartenente al genere Ethmositgmus in tutto simile alla specie trigonopodus (Leach, 1817) ma che si differenzia per una tripletta di spine, poste a ventaglio, al posto della spina dell'angolo del prefemore del 21° paio di zampe. Un'attribuzione specifica di tali esemplari non può essere attualmente decisa.
