Summary

This paper develops the concepts of free-growth, suppression and response put forward by the author in 1935. It examines how far they could be used in evaluating the results of delay in thinning and how information obtained from older existing stands could be used to save time instead of having to observe the growth of young stands.

Hierdie artikel ontwikkel die begrippe van vry-groei, verdrukking en reaksie wat in 1935 deur die skrywer voorgestel is. Dit ontleed in hoe ver hulle gebruik kan word om die resultate van vertraagde dunning te bereken en hoe informasie verkry van ou bestaande opstande gebruik kan word om tyd te bespaar in plaas van om die groei van jong opstande dop te hou.
