Telecommunications and the International Geophysical Year (IGY)

Abstract

The June 1937 issue of the Journal contained the background to the International Geophysical Year, its organization, the details of its different disciplines and short accounts of the national programmes of some of the participating countries. Twelve of the eighteen months of the IGY are now over; and all the disciplines and national programmes are well advanced in their tasks. An attempt is made to review the use of telecommunications in their work.
