An Alternative Code for Indian Languages

Pages 145-148 | Received 30 Jul 1960, Published online: 21 Aug 2015

Abstract

A telegraphic code for Indian languages, expressed in orthographic form, has been given by Ramakrishna and others. In the present paper, an alternative code employing the same three symbols of dot, dash and long dash is presented. This proposed code in general has a slightly larger rate of transmission, is structurally more akin to the Indian alphabets and hence shows a preference to ‘favourable noise’.
