ABSTRACT
The requirements of a system to monitor the X-ray beam used in counter diffractometer experiments are discussed and the design, construction and testing of a single beam system for use with a pen recorder is described in detail. The behaviour of the monitor in relation to the more important causes of X-ray beam intensity fluctuations is briefly discussed.
