Pages 492-498 | Received 23 Aug 1967, Published online: 21 Aug 2015

ABSTRACT

Transient thermal characteristics of electrically heated long nickel filaments are found out with a view to understand the behaviour of quick heating cathodes. It is found that the time-temperature variations can be expressed by simple formulae. The behaviour of oxide coated nickel filaments is analysed in terms of the variation of temperature and emission with time. A set up for the measurement of these characteristics is discussed.
