Some Effects of Metal Flanges on Radiation Patterns of H-Plane Sectoral Horns

ABSTRACT

Some effects of symmetric and asymmetric metal flanges on the radiation patterns of H-plane sectoral horns are reported. An asymmetric flange tilts the E-plane pattern of the horn from its axis while a symmetric flange satisfying certain conditions completely eliminates the H-plane pattern. Experimental data for a number of horns are presented. A probable theory is suggested to explain the observed effects.
