ABSTRACT

Propagation of electromagnetic waves along the columns of longitudinally magnetized plasma surrounded by an isotropic dielectric medium is analysed without making quasistatic assumption. Effect of having a dielectric medium outside the plasma column on ω-β characteristics of various types of modes, the forward surface-wave mode, the forward bulk-wave mode and the backward bulk-wave mode is discussed.
