Abstract
A pulse generator, giving d.c. pulses of continuously variable amplitude up to 40 amps. and having a frequency coverage from 30 to 4,000 p.p.s., has been designed and constructed. The circuit employs a uni-junction transistor whose output pulse triggers the gate of a fast switching SCR The output pulse width is 1·3 μsec. with a rise time of about 0·4 μsec. The pulse generator is being used for supplying current pulses to GaAs laser diodes for studying their threshold characteristics.
