Abstract
Development and fabrication of an electron-gun for use in an experimental beam-plasma amplifier is described. Operating this electron-gun in xenon gas at pressures of 2–3 microns, beam voltages up to 1000 volts and beam-currents up to 1 ma have been obtained. While passing the electron beam through a column of electron gas, plasma density required for the operation of the beamplasma amplifier at 1 GHz was achieved.
