Abstract
The paper deals with the design consideration and the working principle of a thyristorized proportional temperature controller for an open top bath with ordinary glass wool insulation. A thermistor is used as a sensing element and a temperature stability better than ±0·01°C. has been achieved at any set temperature from ambient to 100°C. An expression for open loop sensitivity of the controller has been derived and the theoretical sensitivity using actual circuit parameters has been compared with that one obtained experimentally.
