Abstract
Seasonal and long term variations in Es occurrences have been presented here from 1954 to 1968. The results show good seasonal variation but the dependence of Es occurrences on solar activity seems to be inconspicuous. Similarly, it is difficult to see in what way the meteor ionization rates and thunderstorm activity contribute to Es ionization or to its occurrences on a short or long term basis.
