Generalized Root Contours of Third Order Systems

Abstract

A technique for obtaining the root contours of third order control systems is described in this article. The technique mainly involves in the determination of the loci giving the relative values of the roots of the system for different combination of the system parameters. The present approach is found suitable for investigating the loci for both complex and real configurations of the roots of the system. The determined loci can be used also to serve the basic purposes as provided by the conventional root locus plots.
