Abstract

It is well known that a CRT display system for digital data has several advantages over conventional forms of display, which normally use cold-cathode gas-filled tubes. Such a display, besides being planar, has easy facilities for the control of digit size and intensity of presentation. In addition, the display circuitry can use inexpensive devices. With these features in view, a CRT display system for use as an output unit of a digital voltmeter has been realized using only Indian made solid state devices and components. Amongst the many methods of CRT display of digital data, the use of the bar matrix is considered satisfactory in this application. This paper is prepared to describe this display system and its important operational features.
