A Nanosecond Regenerative Pulse Generator

Pages 115-117 | Received 16 Jul 1970, Published online: 21 Aug 2015

Abstract

A toroidal magnetic core is an accepted component for storage and switching application in present-day digital circuits. In this paper design and description of a nanosecond high current pulse generator using the magnetic toroid as blocking oscillator transformer core and the transistor as a switching element is presented in brief. The superiority of this simple circuit is that it can deliver a peak current of 180 mA to a matched load and the pulse duration can be varied continuously from 100 to 300 nsec. by controlling the supply voltage V and the potentiometer R.
