Analysis by Relay Control Systems with Time Lag by Phase Plane Method

Abstract

In this paper, the phase plane method of analysis of a relay control system with a three-position relay having both hysteresis and dead zone and second order controlled system with time lag has been presented. This offers a simple and exact method for calculating the period and amplitude of limit cycle even for the relay characteristic with hysteresis and dead zone, whereas other methods such as those of Tsypkin, Hamel, etc., become very laborious under these circumstances.
