Abstract
The daily variation of E-region horizontal drift is presented for an equatorial station, Thumba (0·6°S dip). The day-time drift is found to be predominantly westward and the night-time drift predominantly eastward. The magnitude of night-time drift in E-region is of the same order as the F-region night-time drift at Thumba. The times of morning and evening reversals in E-region are shown to be variable with season unlike the F-region. The morning reversal of drift in E-region occurs earliest in the summer and the evening reversal is latest in the equinoxes.
