Abstract
Generalized analysis of the log-periodic dipole antenna having a bidirectional radiation pattern is presented. To investigate the effect of scaling factor (T), three values of (T) are considered. Further, the investigations were carried out by considering the (1) unequal lengths of the dipoles in the active region, (2) phase difference due to unequal lengths of the dipoles, and (3) different magnitudes of the currents in the dipoles. To evaluate the effect of (1), (2) and (3) individually, patterns were computed by taking the different combinations of the above factors. The radiation patterns so obtained are presented. It is concluded that the theoretical and the experimental results for similar structures are in good agreement.
