Abstract

A method of designing a wide aperture convergent electrostatic electron optical system starting from an ideal set of exponential trajectories has been described. The potential field obtained to realize this set of trajectories varies exponentially in the direction perpendicular to the optical axis and equipotential lines coincide with the principal rays of the optical system. The method could be used to design any other electrostatic electron optical system also.
