Abstract

Expressions for the field intensity in the two-component (electron-ion) plasma for both types of modes, electromagnetic and electroacoustic pertaining to a dipole source with sinusoidal current distribution having a general propagation constant, have been given in the present paper and from these field expressions, the radiation resistance of the finite sized dipole for the respective modes is evaluated. Comparing the fields with the corresponding ones in single component (electron) plasma, it is observed that the electromagnetic field is identical in form and differ slightly in magnitude on account of inclusion of an additional term for ions. But the electroacoustic field consists of two parts corresponding to the two pressure modes, namely the modified electron plasma mode and the modified ion plasma mode. The electromagnetic and electroacoustic fields and radiation resistances of a dipole in one-component (electron) plasma can be derived as a particular case from the general results of this paper by neglecting the ion motion.
