Abstract

A buzz generator is an essential component in the synthesiser unit of the Vocoder. A slowly varying d.c. signal in the pitch channel causes the buzz generator to produce narrow pulses whose repetition rate depends on magnitude of the incoming signal. Such narrow pulses have a wide spectrum and hence can be used to simulate the voiced sounds in the synthesised speech. This generator was developed for the 16-Channel Vocoder.
