Direct Energy Conversion—A Materials Problem

Abstract

Electrical energy is the most convenient form of energy to which all other forms of energy may be converted. With increasing understanding of the physical behaviour of matter and with progress in material technology, it is becoming possible to convert energy more and more directly into electricity. The object of the paper is merely to point out the multiplicity of the problems of Materials field which arise from some of these new developments.
