Abstract

The prediction of system reliability in terms of the reliabilities of the individual component blocks for a general nonseries parallel system is still an outstanding problem. A technique for reliability evaluation is developed which is applicable to any type of network. This technique is based on a map method given by Hurley. The given expression is simplified by a technique adapted from Quine McClusky method used for minimization in logic circuitry. The developed algorithm can be easily computerised and results in a reliability expression which is much simpler than the original expression.
