Improvement of Nonlinear System Performance by a Limit Cycling Minor Loop

Abstract

Injection of a high frequency signal (dither) at the input of a nonlinearity has been found to linearise the nonlinearity about the origin, the linearised gain and the region of linearity being dependent on the dither amplitude. The dither signal can be generated inside the system itself by introducing a limit cycling minor loop. It is shown in this paper how the system performance can be made to satisfy any performance specification by a suitable choice of the parameters of the minor loop.
