Average Restoration Time for Multilink Telegraph/Data Circuits

Pages 72-74 | Received 11 Oct 1973, Published online: 11 Jul 2015

Abstract

The argument against multilink telegraph/data circuits proceeds more from the premise of greater maintenance effort to restore interrupted circuits than from the premise of overall error rate or failure probability. A general relationship is developed between average Circuit Restoration Time and the Number of Component Links. The analysis is applicable to any system of independent nonredundant links in respect of which fault localization is done by the decision-tree search procedure.
