Abstract

Signal stabilization is known to be an effective method of stabilization of nonlinear systems. Most of the earlier work in this regard was intended at finding out the critical value of the amplitude of dither that will quench the limit cycle oscillations in nonlinear systems with a typical nonlinearity and a linear plant. For a class of nonlinearities an equivalent representation for such systems is presented here based on the altered nonlinear characteristic. The range of inputs for which this linear representation is valid is easily determined by a knowledge of the parameters of the nonlinearity and the dither amplitude.
