Abstract

A wideband mechanically tunable coaxial cavity Gunn Oscillator has been designed and developed. The designed oscillator is continuously tunable between 7.0 GHz and 12.5 GHz. A minimum output power of 20 m W CW has been obtained over more than 5 GHz bandwidth. Due to its extremely wideband tuning capacity, this oscillator can be used in realizing all solid state X-band signal generators, replacing the conventional signal generators using klystron oscillators.
