Abstract
This paper presents a method of using a general purpose digital computer to evaluate the path of sound rays in water. Starting from input information in respect of the position of the sonar transducer and the thermal structure of water, the programme calculates various losses due to the medium, computes the ray path and estimates the sonar range, for maximum allowable transmission loss.
