Abstract

In this communication electromagnetic wave propagation through a rectangular waveguide containing longitudinally magnetized semiconductor has been discussed. The effects of drift and diffusion of majority carriers are taken into account. The dispersion relation for waveguide filled with semi conducting material in the presence of strong magnetic field applied in the direction of propagation has been derived. With the determination of propagation constant, the variation of phase and attenuation constants for various frequencies have been computed for n-type Indium antimonide. It is shown that the effect of drift and diffusion on the propagation characteristics is not significant.
