Abstract

Coupling co-efficients of an anisotropically conducting circular aperture located on the common wall of two rectangular waveguides are derived. The derived co-efficients show that microwave power coupled through such an aperture may be varied from a maximum to zero by varying through 0 to 90° the, Orientation angle between the aperture axis along the direction of minimum conductivity and the direction of wave propagation. The results arc experimentally verified using pyrolytic gra hite apertures. Such coupling ofTers more flexibility in the practical design and construction f muiti aperture maximally flat-band directional couplers.
