Design of a Magnetic Suspension Using Force Feedback

Abstract

It is shown that by feeding back the reaction of the force exerted by an electromagnet, the stability of a magnetic suspension is improved. Cross-coupling of two such feedback loops operating in push-pull, increases the stiffness of the suspension. Usefulness of a bilinear transformation is illustrated in the design of the compensator
