Abstract

Complete attenuation of the radiation fields in the space communication problems occurs when the gaseous plasma frequency exceeds the source frequency. This is known as blackout problem. To overcome this problem of the blackout, we have proposed an antenna system which contains an axially magnetized cylindrical one-component semiconductor plasma, surrounded by a dielectric medium and excited by a ring source of magnetic current. The radiation field is calculated with the help of steepest descent method. The effect of the various parameters on the radiation pattern is studied.
