Abstract
In the present paper, a new technique for multiplication of two decimal numbers by a Time- Division-Multiplexed (TDM) rate multiplier using the principle of Space-Division-Multiplexing (SDM) has been discussed so that an enormous improvement in speed of multiplication over that using conventional Decimal Rate Multipliers (DRM) is obtainable. Furthermore, the techniques of computing square-root, exponential, logarithm, sine, and cosine functions with a TDM rate multiplier at a much higher speed than with the existing techniques using DRM, have also been discussed in the present context. Finally, a new method of hardware implementation of the principle of TDM rate multiplier has also been presented here.
