Abstract

For a wideband (bandwidth 10 % to 40 %) microwave filters, quarter wave transformer approach is mostly used. Various microwave X-band filters are designed, fabricated and tested. As a design example, a filter in X-band having bandwidth 20 % at centre frequency 9.0 GHz is discussed. The experimental results are also discussed. Another filter in X-band having bandwidth 10% at centre frequency f0 = 9.0 GHz is tested for time-delay measurements. Finally, the theoretical approach to estimate time-delay using above mentioned filters is discussed. The curves are also plotted between number of sections needed to achieve particular time-delay for a particular fixed pass-band loss and bandwidth of a filter.
