Abstract

The paper presents the investigations on potential and field distribution between two coplanar strips of finite width. By separating the inverse elliptic function of complex variable into real and imaginary parts, which are standard elliptic integrals with real arguments, exact expression for equipotential and flux lines are obtained. Negative of complex conjugate of the derivative of complex potential function gives field distribution as an explicit function of variable representing the co-ordinates of region around the coplanar strips. The expression for characteristic impedance is quite simple and is a function of strip dimensions only. The analysis is extended to the case of two wire transmission line using elliptic conductors with coplanar focal planes.
