Electronics industry has recorded phenomenal growth during the last decade all over the world including India not only in terms of quantum of production but also in the production of new sophisticated items with improved technology. In view of the importance of this industry from the point of view of growth potential, employment generation and in setting trends for modern technology separate department and commission have been set up by the Govt. of India with the result that unlike other industries very detailed and precise information on the items covered under this group of industry is available for the guidance of entrepreneurs. The information on items which have scope as well as schemes, is made available to small-scale industries through SISIs and DC (SSI). All proposals for setting up of electronic industries in the small-scale sector involving import of raw materials, components or machinery and equipment are required to be approved by DC (SSI) with a view to ensure healthy & planned growth of this industry. Technical guidance to small entrepreneurs is provided by SISI technical officers as well as through private consultants on the panel of SISIs. The package assistance is provided through Electronics Corporation set up in some of the states, including UP. Newly set-up Electronics Trade & Technology Development Corporation at the Centre will provide assistance with regard to the supply of imported raw materials at the right price and right time as well as in exports. Electronics Testing & Development Centres, already set up in some states including UP with the assistance of Central Government fulfil the most important and urgent need of prospective and existing entrepreneurs with regard to testing, development and quality control. Action by the concerned agencies is also in hand to ensure availability of trained personnel for this industry at all levels.
