Role of R & D and Educational Institutes in Small-Scale Industry

Pages 224-225 | Published online: 11 Jul 2015

Abstract

R&D and educational institutes play relatively a minor role in the development of Small-scale industries in the country. Most small-scale industries employ simple technology and deal with useful items, the development of which hardly needs any sophistication. This is a field in which the individual engineer or the department of industries can provide all the technical assistance. R&D and educational institutes should help in the development of small-scale industries based on sophisticated technology which would result in the development of products having a low raw-material content and which do not require much capital investment to set up.
