Standardization and Quality Control of Electronics Components and Equipment Manufactured by Small-Scale Industry

Abstract

In our country, the contribution of small-scale industry in the field of electronics is considerable and, therefore, they play a very important role in the healthy growth of the electronics industry. There are, however, certain essential pre-requisites for this healthy and useful growth of any industry and the structure and the capabilities of the sectors in which the industries are located play an important part. Standardization, quality and reliability of components and equipment in the field of electronics play a more important role than in the case of other industries. In this paper, the capabilities of the small-scale sector in this field and, therefore, their potential to the growth of the electronics industry in the country are discussed. Standardization work done both by the Indian Standards Institution as well as other organizations in this country and abroad is also reviewed. Testing is a pre-requisite for establishing the quality and reliability and the facilities now available and those contemplated are also mentioned in this address.
