Standardization and Quality Control of Equipment Manufactured by Small-Scale Sector

(Scientist)
Pages 236-239 | Published online: 11 Jul 2015

Abstract

It is well relized that the products of the small-scale sector in the area of electronic equipment and instruments require rigorous testing if they are to conform to acceptable standards. Testing facilities required are beyond the means of small-scale sector entrepreneurs and hence require the assistance that can be rendered by Test and Evaluation Centres whether in the States or at the Zonal centres.

The paper deals with various aspects of standardization and the importance of following the sequences laid down in the relevant standards. It attempts to point out the many advantages that accrue by voluntarily accepting the responsibility of subjecting their products to test and evaluation. This will enable the small-scale sector to make the necessary modifications in structural and functional pattern of the equipment. It will also enable them to determine at what stages testing will have to be introduced in order to ensure control of quality of the end product. Such self discipline on the part of the small-scale sector will pay dividends by their products being accepted nationally and internationally.
