Design of an Indirect Frequency Synthesizer Using Second-Order Type-Two Loop

Abstract

In this paper, a new design procedure for finding the optimum loop-bandwidth for an indirect synthesizer, based on the experimental study of the synthesized signal is described. It is illustrated for a frequency range of 12 MHz to 13.5 MHz in 2.5 kHz steps. Nevertheless, the procedure is applicable to the design of indirect synthesizers in any frequency range.
