Abstract
The characteristics of higher-order surface-wave modes propagating through a circular dielectric cylinder have been investigated. The symmetrical electric (TM on), symmetrical magnetic (TEon), and also hybrid (HEmn) modes of excitations are considered. The effects due to the dielectric anisotropicity of Such cylindrical structures have been included. Generalized expressions for the field components and the characteristic equations have been derived. The results of the propagation characteristics, such as radial and axial propagation constants, guided wavelength and cut-off conditions are presented as functions of diameter, dielectric constant and anisotropicity of the waveguide.
