Abstract
The paper deals with the study of doublet structures formed by two identical slots on the opposite broadwalls of a standard X-band RG-52/U rectangular waveguide such that their centres coincide with the same transverse plane. Two types of doublets—staggered and look-through—have been studied as primary radiators where it has been shown that each doublet may be treated as single slot radiating both ways about the waveguide with their equivalent shunt conductances being the same as that of an individual slot in the look-through case and it is the double of that of a single slot in the staggered case. Two resonant broadside arrays of such doublets have been designed and experimentally found to have a near omnidirectional coverage.
