FM Amplification by Injection-Locked IMPATT Oscillator

Abstract

Amplification of the frequency-modulated carrier has been achieved by an X-band IMPATT oscillator using phase injection-locking technique. Experimental observations giving more than 30 dB gain are reported. Merits of the injection-locked IMPATT oscillator as an FM amplifier are discussed.
